Data retention and auto-deletion

By default LendPacket keeps documents until you delete them. If your firm's policy requires purging borrower documents after closing:

  1. Settings → Data retention → set the number of days after a file CLOSES (30 days to 10 years).
  2. Seven days before a purge, the file's owner gets a warning email — export a package first if you need the documents, or reopen the file to cancel.
  3. On the purge date the document files are permanently deleted. The file record, checklist history, and audit trail remain, and a permanent purge log records exactly what was deleted and when.

Purging only ever touches CLOSED files. Reopening a file resets its clock.
